RPSGB seeks views on Code of Conduct for Student Pharmacy Technicians

pharmacist

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain has launched a consultation on the draft Code of Conduct for Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (student pharmacy technicians), running in tandem with the consultation on the Code of Conduct for Pharmacy Students.

Both consultations will run for four weeks and have been developed to reflect the wider profession’s increasing clinical focus.

The Society’s Head of Support Staff Regulation, Janet Flint said:

“The Code of Conduct for student pharmacy technicians is based on many of the same principles as the Code of Conduct for Pharmacy Students, as we believe they apply equally to both groups.

“However, student pharmacy technicians are in the workplace from the first day of their training, rather than being engaged in study at a university, so their relationship with the education provider is different from that of pharmacy students. Therefore, there will be some slight differences between both Codes.”

Janet Flint continued:

“While we are seeking feedback from as wide an audience as possible, we believe this consultation is of particular interest to pharmacy technician trainers ”
