Tips on dealing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Tips on dealing with NMC

Ensure you keep copies of all correspondence and documents in relation to the complaint/adverse incident.

Any communication will be assessed to determine whether you are making an admission and what insight you have into the allegations raised against you.

Make sure you are familiar with the NMC Code, together with any publication that relates specifically to your complaint.

Consider that any correspondence you send to the NMC may be placed before a Committee at a later stage and used to build a case against you.

After any incident, ensure you make a contemporaneous record that is signed and dated outlining the details and those involved.

Seek legal advice at the earliest opportunity from MAS if you receive any communication from the NMC because your career and reputation are at stake!
