Appeals to and restoration by the General Chiropractic Council

appeals to GCC

It is possible to appeal the decision of a Committee. There is a 28 day time limit for appeals (to High Court) starting with date on which notification of decision was served. The decision will not take effect until either the appeal period expires or the appeal is determined. However, the Committee can impose an immediate order for suspension or conditions if it feels that this is in the interests of public/patient safety or the practitioner.

After a practitioners name has been erased from the Register, they may apply for restoration after 5 years have elapsed from the date the name was removed.

Before any application is made, consideration should be given as to how to present any application. The Committee will need to be satisfied that the issues that resulted in the removal have been addressed and will not be repeated and the chiropractor has insight into their original misconduct. We can advise you on what evidence to gather to strengthen your application before the Committee.
